Exactly one month from today, on Saturday, September 25th, the Paws & Claws in the Park animal adoption event will also be the scene of a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt in the light-hearted category of Largest Dog Wedding Ceremony.
You can read about it here on the Elmhurst Patch page.
Even better, please share this information with at least a few you know who might also like to be part of history on that early-fall date. It will truly be a team effort, and every pooch who comes to Lions Park in Villa Park brings us that much closer to breaking the record set over 14 years ago in Littleton, Colorado. (That's about 100 dog-years, by the way--isn't it about time a new group of canine charmers--and their leash-holders--were top dogs in this category?)
On that day in Littleton, there were a whopping 356 dogs---or 178 couples--who tied the knot.
Already, since beginning to contact the media yesterday, news has begun to spread of our attempt to topple Littleton from the doggy-do's throne. Among other pieces of coverage, there is a heartfelt essay of sorts at Rockford's Home for Classic Rock, 96.7 The Eagle as well as at Editor 99.
And we are confident that in the near future news will spread throughout the region, and beyond. But it's the paws-on-the ground on that special Saturday (September 25th--mark your calendar!) that will really make the difference--and make the headlines that we really crave: Guinness World Record holders!
